The STEM approach enhanced with adult learning methodologies, delivered using the principles of distance learning and supported by online learning environments in the context of communities of practice could create new learning opportunities for adults. In this context, the purpose of this research is to investigate which competences, skills and attitudes are needed in order for someone to be an effective e-tutor/facilitator of STEM-related online courses in distance adult education and how can we help individuals to acquire these competences.
