Abstract

The problem of educational drop-out exists worldwide at all levels of education and is difficult to deal with, because, on the one hand, the factors that affect it are many and varied, e.g. social, economic, educational, etc., and on the other, each pupil or student is influenced in a different way and to a varying degree. However, the study of the attendance of students, who attempt to complete their studies but ultimately abandon them, with the science of data mining, could make a significant contribution to understanding the phenomenon of educational drop-out. By extracting data from the study of these students’ attendance, we could probably predict the problem, so as to develop strategies to deal with it in time.
