Abstract
The views and the perceptions of residents on environmental issues are important to establish policies aiming to a better environment. Citizens’ attitudes and behaviors concerning environmental issues depend on a variety of factors, such as the characteristics and beliefs of the respondents, but also the time period, as these views are dynamic and change over time. However, the impact of both economic crisis and political positions of citizens on their views on environmental issues is not well known. The aim of this PhD thesis dissertation is to explore the views and the perceptions of citizens on the environment and their general attitudes towards environmental issues and in particular to study the impact of the economic crisis and the political positions of the citizens on these views.
